EatAlyze uses Google’s Gemini API for AI features: nutrient profiles for foods you log, meal suggestions that respect your restrictions, and the in-app nutrition chat. The app asks you to supply your own API key. That key is entered in Settings.
Without a key, Demo mode is available. You get sample data. You can keep a diary. You cannot add new foods or nutrients. That limit is there so the demo stays simple and does not pretend to be a finished personal record.
With a key, demo data is cleared. Profile-based foods and nutrients load. Logging by text, barcode, or photo can fill a nutrient profile. Meal suggestions and chat use the details you chose to put in your profile.
Food and diary data stay on your device. When AI features run, relevant details are sent from your device to Google’s API with your key. That is described in the app’s privacy policy on the website.
